The top-seeded Newton Lady Eagles brought the season to a close Wednesday for the Lawrenceville Lady softball Indians with a 10-0, five-inning victory in the Flora Class 2A Regional semifinals.
Newton scored in every inning but one en route to the win. Newton tallied 10 runs on 12 hits with no errors while Lawrenceville was blanked on 5 hits and made no errors.
Elaina Hoke had two of the Lawrenceville hits. Allison Evans took the pitching loss in the circle as she gave up 6 runs on 9 hits over 2 innings with 3 walks and no strikeouts.
The Lady Indians bow out of the Class 2A tournament series with a record of 11-18.
Newton will meet host Flora Friday for the championship. The Lady Wolfgals advanced with a 2-0 win over Breese Mater Dei in the second semifinal.
