For Waldron to repeat as sectional champions, the Mohawks will have to defeat a Triton Central squad it has lost to twice this season.
At the Shelbyville Tennis Sectional Thursday, Waldron eliminated Morristown, 5-0, and Triton Central outlasted a pesky Shelbyville team, 3-2, in a match where four of the five matches went three sets.
That sets up today’s sectional championship match between Waldron (13-4) and Triton Central (18-2). The Tigers defeated Waldron, 4-1, in the semifinal round of the Shelby County Tournament on Sept. 14 and two days later in a regular-season match, 3-2.
Waldron had little trouble reaching the sectional final, dropping just four games against Morristown.
At No. 1 singles, Charlie Fischer defeated Dalton McMichael, 6-1, 6-0. And Jack Fischer netted a 6-0, 6-2 win over Eli Graves.
Morristown forfeited the No. 3 singles match.

Matthew Thomas and Jackson Kuhn blanked Gage Frey and Ethan Tryon at No. 2 doubles, 6-0, 6-0.
The only match not to go three sets in the semifinal battle between Triton Central and Shelbyville came at No. 2 singles, where Janssen Capps defeated Kashton Laycock, 6-2, 6-1.
Shelbyville’s Reece Prickett rallied from a set down to defeat Tucker Hutchinson at No. 1 singles, 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-1.
Triton Central’s Bradyn Robinson topped Kody Sellers at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 0-6, 6-0.
In a battle of highly-successful No. 1 doubles pairings, Shelbyville’s Aiden Smith and Wyatt Armstrong won the final two sets for a 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 victory.
Shelbyville’s Aiden Alton and Jack VanWye won the first set at No. 2 doubles but Triton Central’s Brayden Hoover and Caleb McGuire rallied for a 6-7 (4), 7-5, 6-1 win.
