Prep Report: Triton Central tennis improves to 7-1 with HLC win at Tri-West

Triton Central tennis swept the singles matches Monday and added a win at No. 2 doubles to secure the Hoosier Legends Conference victory at Tri-West.

Brayden Hoover, Bradyn Robinson and Drayton Kermode each on their singles matches in straight sets.

Owen Rice and Cash Eck produced a 7-6 (5), 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.

Tri-West’s only win came from Michael Gibson and Kyle Dean, who defeated Colton Ayres and Graham Gast at No. 1 doubles, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.

Triton Central improved to 7-1 this season.

In other prep events Monday:

Boys soccer

Rushville 2, Triton Central 1

At Rushville, Colton England scored a goal in each half to improve the Lions to 3-2 this season.

Beaun Nentrup scored the Tigers’ only goal in the second half.

Triton Central lost its third straight match by one goal to fall to 1-5-1 this season.

Girls soccer

Shelbyville 3, Triton Central 1

At Triton Central, the visiting Golden Bears earned their first road win of the season to improve to 3-2.

The win was Shelbyville’s first over the Tigers since 2023.

Maddie Burnett scored the lone goal for Triton Central (3-3).

Boys tennis

Waldron 5, Southwestern 0

At Southwestern, the visiting Mohawks improved to 5-1 this season with a sweep of the Spartans.

At No. 1 singles, Charlie Fischer defeated Brinnyn Moss, 6-0, 6-1. Lincoln Fischer topped Liam Tsukuno, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Southwestern forfeited at No. 3 singles to Noah Leap.

At No. 1 doubles, Jackson Kuhn and Caige Sheaffer bested Kentley Gosser and Ryder Scott, 6-0, 6-0.

Owen Hartman and Kevin Crouch also secured a 6-0, 6-0 win over Jesse Wilkins and Gavin Shuppert at No. 2 doubles.

Shelbyville 5, Hauser 0

At Hauser, the Golden Bears won all five matches in straight sets to improve to 3-4.

At No. 1 singles, Kashton Laycock defeated Joel Bechtel, 6-3, 6-2.

Bram Kolkmeier bested Graydon Kilps, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.

And Mason Miano collected his first varsity win of the season with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Dane Richards.

At No. 1 doubles, Jack Van Wye and Cooper Reed rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Brody Miller and Ty Wadsworth.

Owen Shively and Grant Tackett finished off Curtis Kilps and Aiden Bense, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Volleyball

Columbus East def. Shelbyville, 25-20, 25-15, 25-22

At Columbus East, Taylor Abell led the Golden Bears with 11 kills and 10 digs. Annabelle Bringle, Jordyn Noe and Lyla Wilson each had six kills.

Hayden Ricketts finished with a team-high 12 digs.

Addy Marshall notched 25 assists.

Addyson Dean led the Olympians (4-6) with 20 kills

Shelbyville dropped to 4-3 this season.

Waldron def. Tri, 25-15, 25-17, 25-15

At Tri, Maleah Williams led the Mohawks with 13 kills and six digs. Ashlyn Ramsey had six service aces and six digs.

Waldron has won three of its last four matches to improve to 4-4 this season.
