For the second time in three days, Triton Central tennis defeated Waldron.
After eliminating the Mohawks from the Shelby County Tournament Saturday, 4-1, the rematch ended with the Tigers prevailing 3-2 and improving to 12-1 this season.
Triton Central won the top two singles matches and added a win at No. 2 doubles to complete the victory.
At No. 1 singles, Tucker Hutchinson defeated Waldron’s Charlie Fischer, 6-2, 6-4. And Janssen Capps bested Jack Fischer at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-3.
At No. 1 doubles, Brayden Hoover and Caleb McGuire fended off Jackson Kuhn and Matthew Thomas, 7-5, 7-6 (3).
Waldron repeated its win at No. 1 doubles where Lucas Shaw and Cash Young defeated Connor Evans and Max Crouse, 7-5, 6-3.
At No. 3 singles, Waldron’s Lincoln Fischer collected a 6-2, 6-4 win over Drayton Kermode.
Waldron dropped to 8-4 this season.
Junior varsity match winners for Triton Central were Bradyn Robinson, Wyatt Fisher, Graham Gast and Derreck Uhls. Waldron’s Connor Ping and Noah Mitchell earned a doubles match victory.
Triton Central and Waldron could meet for a third time this season at the Shelbyville Sectional in October.

Boys tennis
Greenfield-Central 4, Shelbyville 1
At Greenfield-Central, Shelbyville’s Aiden Smith and Wyatt Armstrong improved to 14-2 this season with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Nolan Frye and Kasen Jarnecke.
The Cougars dropped just seven games while sweeping the singles matches. Owen Hartman and Jack VanWye were defeated at No. 2 doubles, 6-3, 6-2 by Ethan Ortwein and Jacob Welch.
The Golden Bears are 5-12 this season and 1-5 against Hoosier Heritage Conference opponents.
Drake Tillison and the doubles pairing of Aiden Alton and Cooper Reed won junior varsity matches for Shelbyville.
Volleyball
Rushville def. Waldron, 25-21, 25-13, 25-11
At Waldron, the visiting Mohawks’ roster was limited by injuries and illness, meaning younger players were pressed into varsity action.
Alivia Fischer led Waldron (1-11) with nine kills. Emerson Lindsey had a team-high 14 digs.
Freshmen Ashlyn Ramsey and Averi Scheele each had five assists.
Triton Central def. Knightstown, 25-15, 25-10, 25-10
At Knightstown, Lanee Swindell and Lilly Drew each had four kills for the host Panthers (4-6).
Triton Central improved to 10-6.
The Tigers won the junior varsity match, 25-9, 25-8.
