Triton Central tennis scored a pair of wins Saturday over Greenwood and Pendleton Heights in its season-opening matches.
The Tigers swept Greenwood, 5-0, after the No. 1 doubles team of Kate Collier and Neve Kahler won a three-set match over Moriah Ellington and Mia Shaffer, 6-1, 4-6, 10-8.
At No. 2 doubles, Estelle Gearlds and Cadence Roberts defeated Atley Jacks and Paige Glynn, 6-4, 6-1.
Triton Central got singles match wins from Maryrose Felling (6-0, 6-2), Anniston Evans (6-3, 6-4) and Zhibek Zhumaly (6-4, 6-2).
Triton Central defeated Pendleton Heights, 4-1.
The Tigers again won all three singles matches. Felling defeated Amelia Saunder, 6-0, 6-1. Evans bested Zoe Walters, 6-1, 6-3. And Zhumaly topped Adalyn Eichhorn, 7-5, 6-4.
At No. 2 doubles, Gearlds and Roberts teamed to defeat Esper Fernandez and Olivia Haugh, 6-2, 6-3.
The Arabians’ lone win came at No. 1 doubles where Sarah Ghosh and Sophia Sorrells defeated Collier and Kahler, 2-6, 6-4, 12-10.

Shelbyville 12, Triton Central 2
At Barnett Field in Shelbyville Friday, the Golden Bears scored four runs apiece in the second and third innings and Gavin Reed and Luke Coomes combined to limit the Tigers to three hits and one walk.
Reed earned the win, pitching three innings, allowing one hit and striking out two. Coomes worked the final two innings and allowed two unearned runs.
Freshman Nash Durbin took the loss for Triton Central. He pitched two innings, allowed two hits, three walks and six runs (three earned).
Aiden Smith and Coomes each had two hits for Shelbyville. Adair Zermeno scored two runs and drove in two more.
Triton Central (0-4) hosts Beech Grove (5-0-1) Tuesday for a Hoosier Legends Conference contest.
Shelbyville (3-0) hosts Mt. Vernon (5-1) Tuesday for the first of back-to-back Hoosier Heritage Conference games.
North Decatur 19, Morristown 8
At Morristown Friday, the visiting Chargers scored in all seven innings to secure the Mid-Hoosier Conference sweep of the Yellow Jackets.
Grayson Downey had five hits, scored three runs and finished with six RBIs. Wyatt Reisman had four hits and scored four runs.
Tyler Dean took the win for North Decatur (3-1). He pitched three innings, allowed five hits and one walk while striking out two. Reisman pitched the final four innings and struck out eight.
Mason Bentley, Mitchell Ronan and Braxton Lenning each had two hits for Morristown (1-4). Ronan and Cole Helton each scored two runs. Bentley and Michael Ballinger each had two RBIs.
Morristown travels Tuesday to Providence Cristo Rey (0-2).
South Ripley 18, Waldron 2
At South Ripley Friday, the host Raiders scored six runs in the bottom of the first and added eight more in the second to cruise past the Mohawks.
Ethan Schmaltz finished with three hits, including two doubles, two runs scored and three RBI for South Ripley (3-0). Landon Werner had two hits, including a triple, and drove in four runs.
Waldron (2-2) had just three hits off South Ripley pitchers Brogan Buchanan and Bode Block.
The Mohawks are at Crothersville (0-3) Tuesday.

Yorktown Invitational
At The Players Club Saturday, Shelbyville posted a 363 team score to tie for 19th place.
Logan Tobian led the Golden Bears with an 81. Ethan Hughes shot 87 and Logan Reinhart was two strokes back at 89.
Completing the Shelbyville scorecard were Kameron Holland (106) and Carter Dunagan (115).
Center Grove (290) held off Carmel (294) and Noblesville (299) to capture the team title. Center Grove’s Drew Carlson was the medalist with the low round of 67.

At Triton Central Saturday, the Bruins and Tigers split a Hoosier Legends Conference doubleheader.
In game one, Tri-West scored six runs in the first inning and never trailed.
Emma Charles had two hits and scored two runs. Kacee Trivett had two RBIs. Natalie Tharp earned the win, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out seven.
Madi Peterson took the loss for Triton Central. She allowed nine hits and all 12 runs but only one was earned.
Ashlyn Hittle had a two-run home run in the first inning.
In game two, Triton Central built a 5-3 lead after two innings and held on for the win.
Hittle had a solo home run and Elly May drove in two runs to get the Tigers (1-4) their first win of the season.
Hailey Cooper pitched a complete game, allowing eight hits and three walks.
Adelyn Lengerich took the loss for Tri-West (8-2).
Triton Central hosts Beech Grove (2-7) Tuesday.
North Decatur 4, Morristown 3
At Morristown Friday, the visiting Chargers scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning then held the Yellow Jackets scoreless to complete the MHC sweep.
Macie Leake had three hits for North Decatur (4-1). Madison Rohls and MacKenzie Schneider each had two hits.
Brooklyn White pitched a complete game, allowing three hits while striking out 10.
Abby Hawk took the loss for Morristown (2-3), allowing seven hits and four runs (none earned) while striking out six.
Leigh Ann Arnold had two of Morristown’s three hits.
The Yellow Jackets host Knightstown (2-2) Tuesday.
Brown County 23, Waldron 8
At Brown County Friday, the host Eagles scored nine runs in the third inning and eight in the fourth to secure the run-rule victory.
Grace Frye had four hits, scored three runs and drove in three for Brown County (3-4). Cami Keaton finished with three hits and scored three runs.
Izzy Blanchard took the loss for Waldron (2-1). She pitched the first three innings before Shelby Zapfe and Kailey Hinchman shared the pitching duties in the fourth inning.
Brooklyn Rush and Lilly Reese each had two hits. Breanna Barton had two RBIs.
Waldron hosts Oldenburg Academy (0-4) Tuesday.

At Waldron Friday, the host Mohawks won a pair of three-set matches to complete the sweep of Morristown.
At No. 2 singles, Malia Murphy lost the first set then rallied in the next two to produce a 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 win.
Madeline Walker and Hannah Rouse also needed a third set to defeat Remi Spicklemire and Chloe Theobald at No. 2 doubles, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.
At No. 1 singles, Riley Thurston bested Katie Theobald, 6-2, 6-3.
Leah Kuhn topped Remi Frey, 7-6 (6), 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
Emerson Lindsey and Jackie Corlett cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Emma Waggoner and Emmy Bowyer.

Mohawk Invitational
At Waldron Saturday, Morristown did not produce a single event winner but had enough depth to capture the team title over eight other programs.
The Yellow Jackets’ 86 points held off Switzerland County (77), Hauser (72), Union County (66) and Waldron (61).
Scoring runner-up points for Morristown were Arik Trattner (100 meters, 11.84; long jump, 18-9); Brayden Anderson (400, 54.86), Lakshdeep Singh (800, 2:13.55) and Trenton Belt (discus, 121 feet, six inches).
Waldron’s Tad Crosby won both the 100 (11.77) and the 400 (52.8). Caige Sheaffer was runner-up in the high jump (5-10).

Herron 139, Triton Central 130, North Decatur 91, Indianapolis Lutheran 76, Greenwood Christian 64, South Ripley 55
At Triton Central Friday, Zeke Robertson won both hurdling events and helped two relay teams win races.
Robertson, a state qualifier in the hurdles the last two seasons, won the 110 hurdles in 15.33 and the 300 hurdles in 40.76.
Robertson ran with Landon Slone, Judea Holt and Braden Brown to win the 400 relay in 45.72.
The 1,600 relay was won by Slone, Liam Thompson, Henry Kemper and Robertson in 3:37.63.
Four different Tigers scored runner-up points. Kye West was second in the shot put (36-3); Brown was second in the 100 (11.55); Slone was second in the 200 (23.6); and Nick Tormoehlen was second in the 400 (57.33).
Girls track and field
Mohawk Invitational
At Waldron Saturday, Morristown finished second to Switzerland County, 127-89, in the team standings. The host Mohawks placed sixth in the 9-team field.
Morristown won both hurdling events – Sawyer Rogers crossing the finish line first in the 100 hurdles in 16.84 and Brooklyn Carlton winning the 300 hurdles in 50.17.
Audrey VanDyke finished runner-up in the 3,200 in 13:16.61.
Van Dyke teamed with Brooke Kuhn, Chloe Theobald and Ava Smith to finish second in the 3,200 relay in 11:40.4.
Rogers ran with Presley Willard, Ava Smith and Ava Gesaule and finished second in the 400 relay in 55.33.
Waldron freshman Maleah Williams won the shot put (38-9) and the discus (128-9).

At Triton Central Friday, Layla Compton and Ryn West each won an individual event and helped win two relay events.
Compton took first place in the 200 in 28.24 and was runner-up in the 100 (13.6). West won the long jump (14-7.5) and was runner-up in the 100 hurdles (19.18).
Compton and West teamed with Kaylynn Tremblett and Aubrie Propp to win the 400 relay in 53.81.
Compton, West, Propp and Bella Ball won the 1,600 relay in 4:35.55.
Ball finished runner-up in the high jump (4-8) and the 400 (1:07.8).
Boys volleyball
Southport Invitational
Shelbyville finished 0-3 at the invitational with straight-set losses to Lawrence Central, Southport and Plainfield.
Jay Kawakami had a team-high three kills and Jack Bassett finished with six digs in a 25-14, 25-16 loss to Lawrence Central.
The Golden Bears (0-14) are at Indianapolis Washington (0-2) today.
