Each year, the Indiana High School Athletic Association honors an outstanding official in each sport during the State Finals Tournament.
The recipient of the 2024-25 IHSAA Outstanding Boys Soccer Official is Greg Finley from Kokomo. Finley was selected for this honor by a committee representing the 24 officials’ associations in Indiana.
There are more than 6,000 officials licensed by the IHSAA in all sports. Finley has been licensed in the sport of Boys Soccer for 13 years and he has overseen five boys’ soccer sectionals, seven regionals, three semi-states, and two state championship contests (2019, 2020). Additionally, he has officiated nine girls’ soccer sectionals, seven regionals, and three semi-states. Finley is also a licensed IHSAA Basketball official.
Finley is a member of the Fall Creek Association and volunteers his time as an IHSAA clinician, assisting with clinics and trainings in service to other officials in his community. He also works as an IHSAA mentor to several younger officials, providing them with helpful insight from his years of experience in refereeing.
Finley uses his passion for soccer, both in his time as a coach and a referee, to positively impact the lives of student-athletes in his community. He resides in Kokomo with his wife, Karen, and together, they have two children. He currently works as an Automotive Sales Consultant in Kokomo.
