Cloverdale high school to get turf upgrade

For Cloverdale High School, the long wait is over.

As the last high school in Putnam County still playing football on grass, the Clovers will soon transition to turf following a decision by the Cloverdale School Board. 

"We will be getting turf in the future. I am super excited and it has been in the process for a while. We have a new weight room, new field house and now new turf. We have a lot of people in the community who support us, and it is an exciting time at Cloverdale," football coach Tyler Lotz told The Putnam County Post. 

The renovations come with a $4.5 million price tag and include turf on the football field and renovations to the current track. 

"Our current football facility faces significant drainage issues and challenges that require our attention. Transitioning to a synthetic turf field will not only resolve those drainage issues, but also offer a long-term cost solution to cost efficiency by eliminating costs with things like mowing, irrigation and seasonal lining. At the same time, our track has outlasted its life expectancy and is in need of replacement," Superintendent Dr. Stacy Mason told the school board during the August meeting.
