The Lawrenceville basketball Indians have taken the first step toward a regional championship.
They blasted the Oblong-Palestine-Hutsonville Wildcats 79-31 Wednesday in the semi-finals of the Class 2A Paris tournament.
The Tribe jumped out to a 22-8 lead after one quarter and were never seriously threatened.
The lead grew to 40-15 at the half and 67-30 after three quarters.
The 23-7 Indians were led by Zander Cessna with 20 points, Jayden Goff added 17 and Maddox Pargin 11.
Lawrenceville will face a familiar foe in the title game Friday--the host 18-14 Paris Tigers.
They won handily over Toledo (Cumberland) 55-35 in the second semi-final Wednesday.
The two teams will meet for the second time in a week.
