William Edward Kirchner, 92, of Brazil

William Edward Kirchner, 92, of Brazil, IN passed away April 14, 2025 at the Gibson Hospice Center following an extended illness.

Bill was born August 16, 1932 in Ashboro, IN to Charles and Lillian Kirchner. After attending Ashboro High School, he went to work in construction, operating heavy equipment and helped construct the roadway system in Naples Florida. Soon after, he began hauling coal and continued in the coal mining industry. He worked for Peabody Coal Co., where he retired in 1990 while supervising the Black Mesa Mine in Kayenta AZ. While living in Arizona, on the Navajo Reservation, he and his spouse Pat owned and operated a Motel and Restaurant in Tsegi, AZ. After returning to Indiana in 1990, he continued his favorite past time of buying, selling and trading.

William and his first wife Patricia Lynch Kirchner have 3 children, William Andy Kirchner (Kelly), Lori Niewald (David), Wendy Roe.

He married his second wife Patricia E. Hutcheson Kirchner in 1981 in Arizona. Pat brought a son Rodney, and a daughter Robin Hutcheson into the family. Bill and Pat enjoyed 47 years of marriage working and traveling together. Some of their travels included China, Africa, Canada, Alaska and RVing across the US.

Together they have several grandchildren, Reanda Kirchner (Jerry), Lecia Brown, Austin Souder (Amber), Baylon Souder, Blake Dalton, Brock (Monica) Dalton, Spencer (Kendall) Roe, Makenzie (Travis) Hall, Payton (Cody) Siddons, Chase (Ashley) Hutcheson, Melissa (Carl) Wipple, Tiffany Jeffries and 22 great grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Lillian and Charles Kirchner, his in laws Jack & Irene Hutcheson, 4 siblings, Glen Kirchner, Sam Kirchner, Ilogene McCammon and Charlotte Baker. Son in law Jeff Roe and a great grandson Dawson Roe.

He is survived by his wife Patricia E Kirchner, his children. His sister Nancy Selsam and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of life on May 9, 2025 at the Staunton Community Center from 4-8 p.m. Donations can be made in his honor to the Gibson Hospice Center. Envelopes will be available at the Celebration.
