
Susan (Suzy) Alice Alger of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away on May 15, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones.
Born January 14, 1943 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Alfred and Doretta Wenz (Fessenbeck). Susan led a life of joy and adventure and was beloved by all that knew her. She married her high school sweetheart, Paul David (Dave) Alger Jr., in 1959 they had four children — Angel, Holly, Paul David, and Shawn. She lived predominantly in Indianapolis and later Brazil, Indiana but Susan’s journeys also took her to California where she lived in Yucaipa and later Colton, where she continued to maintain a winter home for the snowbird seasons. In later years, Susan also found new love in an old friend and was engaged to Albert Wagner of Greenwood, Indiana in 2020. The two shared a love of travel and adventure that kept her last years filled with love and excitement. Susan pursued incredible business ventures throughout her life, most notably in the Brazil, Indiana area, including several family businesses Pizza Paradise Restaurant, Service Associates of Indiana Appliance Store, and Service Associates Satellite Sales.
Susan also enjoyed managing events and catering at A Place in Time Event Venue in the West Terre Haute area. Susan worked as an Office Manager in Colton California and also worked in the Home Health Care industry for many years, in the Terre Haute, Indiana area.
Susan had many hobbies including traveling, square dancing, line dancing, gardening, rock hounding, jewelry making, mushroom hunting and many other outdoor activities. Susan was a member of Wabash Valley Genealogy Society, Wabash Valley Herb Society and Orange Belt Mineralogical Society. Susan believed in living life to the fullest. She loved festivals, hiking, kayaking trips, and discovering new places to visit and explore. She made friends everywhere she went and was lucky enough to have friends all across the globe — all who knew her, loved and enjoyed her company immensely.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband Dave, and granddaughter Mida.
She is survived by her fiancé Al Wagner, sisters Linda Swett, Judith Hunt and husband Michael, sons Paul David Alger III and wife Ann, Shawn Alger and wife Caroline, daughters Angel Alger, Holly Tipton and husband Shane, as well as her grandchildren who loved and cherished her Amanda Maesch, Stacy Morelli, Isabel Alger, Paul David Alger IV, Joshua Alger, Mandy Alger, and great granddaughters Elliana and Emma Morelli, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services have been entrusted to French Funeral Home of Brazil, Indiana.
Memorial Services entrusted to Lawson-Miller Chapel will be held on Friday, May 23 at 6pm at with visitation beginning at 4pm.
Pastor Scott Pitts will be officiating.
Burial will be at a later date.
