Shaun Griggs, age 38, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026 at his residence in Lawrenceville, Illinois.
Shaun Griggs, age 38, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026 at his residence in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He was born May 31, 1987, in Olney, Illinois, the son of Timothy Griggs Sr. and Patty Piper Griggs. Shaun was eagerly awaiting his 39th birthday with his family and a trip to Holiday World this summer.
Shaun was a kind and caring young man who found great joy in life’s simple pleasures and in spending time with the people he loved. He enjoyed visiting with friends and family, sharing coffee with his aunt, going out to eat, watching movies, and listening to his favorite country artists, Toby Keith and Randy Travis. Shaun especially loved Barney videos and proudly wore his Barney t-shirts. A former resident of Linton from 2004 to 2006 and Brazil from 2006 to 2008, he graduated from Northview High School in Brazil, Indiana in May of 2009. Shaun looked forward to overnight hotel trips and swimming, especially visits to Evansville. He treasured time with his family, rides in the car listening to music, trips to McDonald's for cheeseburgers and iced coffee, and watching The Waltons. Above all, Shaun will be remembered for his joyful spirit and his love he had for his family.
Preceding Shaun in death include: his maternal grandparents, Clair Adamson Piper and Madeline Lolita Boyd Piper and his uncle, Stanley Piper.
Survivors include his mother, Patty Piper Griggs, of Lawrenceville; father, Timothy Griggs; brother, Shane Griggs, of Lawrenceville and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 3 pm. Visitation will be held at 1 pm till the service hour of 3 pm. Burial will follow services at Sumner Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
