Sarah Cotton Meek, age 74 of Lawrenceville, IL, passed away at her home on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. She was born on November 24, 1951 in Louisville, KY to William “Bill” Cotton, Jr. and his wife Betty (Anderson) Cotton.
On May 12, 1973 in Louisville, KY, she married the love of her life, Walter Michael Meek. Born of that love were two children Brian and Joseph Meek. For 52 years, Sarah and Mike worked as a team and made many wonderful memories.
Sarah loved taking care of her family and home. She enjoyed playing cards, mahjong, and board games.
Those left to carry on her legacy of family and love are: her husband- Walter ‘Mike” Meek; two sons- Brian Patrick Meek and wife Jessica of Indianapolis, IN and Joseph Allen Meek and wife Kayla of Lawrenceville, IL; four grandchildren- Andrew Meek, Emmalee Meek, Henry Meek, and Ellery Meek; one sister-in-law- Patti Biffle and husband Eddie of Farris, TX; two nieces; one great-niece; and two great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Betty Cotton.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Cunningham-Young Funeral Home is assisting the family during their time of loss.
