Rodrick P. “Rod” Werner, 75, of San Pierre, IN passed away on Monday, October 12, 2026 at his home surrounded by family and friends.

He was born May 7, 1951 in Lafayette, IN to the late Paul F. and JoAnn M. (Ricks) Werner.  Rod graduated from West Central High School in 1969 and attended Purdue University the following year.  He was drafted into the US Army and served two years during the Vietnam War.  On October 12, 2004, Rod married Cheryl L. (Johnson) Ward in Sevierville, TN.

Rod worked hard his entire life until falls restricted him to a wheelchair.  He worked as the plant manager at North Judson Meat Packing for 20 years, spent several years as a cattle broker, and retired from the US Postal Service where he worked as a rural mail carrier for 17 years.

Rod loved his family and spending time with them.  He had a great sense of humor and was well-known for his many “Rodisms”.  He enjoyed fishing, cutting meat, and smoking sausage.  He was well-traveled in his younger years, visiting numerous American States as well as foreign countries like Mexico and the Dominican Republic.  In his later years, Rod preferred to stay home on his farm with his people.
