
Paul E. Wells Sr., 83, of Brazil, passed away at Union Hospital, on May 26, 2025, following a lengthy illness.
Paul was born on December 24, 1941, in Seelyville, Indiana, the son of Charles J. and Muriel D. (Killion) Wells. Paul worked as a coal miner at Chinook Coal Mine for 34 years. He also worked at Oak Ridge Golf Course for several years. Paul was a Master Mason with lodge 541. He enjoyed mowing with his Kubota mower, golfing, hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Muriel Wells; step-father Russell VanVactor; his wife Donna M. (Deakins) Wells; brothers Joseph VanVactor and Charles VanVactor.
Survivors include his children: Paul Wells Jr. (Susan), Christina E. McCreery, and Jim Wells (Connie); grandchildren: Paul Wells III, James W. Wells, Jeremiah Nathaniel McCreery, Heath Wells (Katie), and Faith Wells; great-grandchildren: Harley McCreery, Lilliana McCreery, Parker Wells, Steven Wells, and Hadleigh Wells; siblings: Muriel C. White (Dale), William Allen VanVactor (Janice), and Renee Weir; as well as several extended family members and friends.
Private graveside services were held at Calcutta Cemetery.
