Pamela "Pam" Knopp Hitch

Pamela "Pam" Knopp Hitch, a loving wife and mother of Shelbyville, passed away September 2, 2026.

Pam was born May 4, 1954, in Morristown to John & Beverly Phillips. On October 14, 1976, she married the love of her life, Mike Hitch, and together they raised their son, Jeremy, building a beautiful family rooted in love and laughter.

For 40 years, Pam worked as a professional bookkeeper for businesses and dental offices throughout the area. She took real pride in her work and, in doing so, became a quiet example to the younger women around her of what it looked like to build a career while building a family.

But nothing brought Pam more joy than being a mother — except, perhaps, becoming "Grams" to her granddaughters. Her face lit up every time one of them walked into a room.

She loved driving her own mustangs or cruising in street rods with Mike, soaking in the views of the lake, and most of all, being surrounded by the noise and warmth of her family.

Pam is survived by those who cherished her most: her husband, Mike Hitch; mother-in-law, Wanda Hitch; sister Sherry (Kevin) Wood, sister-in-laws Lesley and Kelly; brother-in-law Jim (Amber) Hitch; her son, Jeremy (Rachel) Brown; and her granddaughters, Sidney, Emma, and Ava. She is also survived by a nephew, KC, and nieces Tasha, Trista, Marcelle, and Willow.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Beverly Phillips, and Fred Hitch.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your local county's Alzheimer's Association in Pam's memory.

Final arrangements have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St., in Shelbyville.

Online condolences may be shared with Pam’s family at www.freemanfamilyfuneralhomes.com.
