Michael Lee Hartman, 77, of rural Argos, Indiana passed away August 22, 2026, at 9:46 a.m. at his residence. On January 6, 1947, in Plymouth, Indiana he was born to Leonard J. and Tyrus L. (Wallace) Hartman. Michael lived in the Argos community for most of his life.
On October 26, 1974, he married Twyla Mae Cowger and together they shared the next 52 years.
Mike was a truck driver having worked for Mercer Transportation and was a self-employed truck driver for several years. He loved driving truck and enjoyed meeting people along the way, because he never met a stranger.
Mike was a member of the OOIDA Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association. He was a graduate of Plymouth High School with the class of 1966. Mike enjoyed beekeeping, fishing, and camping with family and friends. He was always ready to head north to ride motorcycles and hunt mushrooms. Mike coached Marshall County Junior League Football. In 2015 Twyla and him set out to do his bucket list; Mount Rushmore, Old Faithful, Grand Canyon, Bad Lands, Sedona, and to see the lights of Las Vegas at night with a stop in Arizona to visit his sister.

Sons – Eric Hartman and his significant other Waneta of Argos, Chris Hartman and wife Amber of Plymouth, Richard Hartman and wife Connie of Goshen, Indiana; and Keith Hartman and wife Shelly of Silver Lake, Indiana
Grandchildren – 9 Storm, Michael, Emily, Lex, Ayanna, Izabella, Skylar, Ethan, and Jared
Great-Grandchildren – 3 Brantley, Wesley, and Beau
Mother – Tyrus Hartman of Plymouth, Indiana
Sisters – Patricia Nettrouer of Plymouth, Indiana; Debra Emenaker of Plymouth, Indiana; Barbara Bachtel of Arizona; and Rhonda Ferguson and husband Jim of Argos, Indiana
Brother – Garry Hartman and wife Barbara of Plymouth, Indiana
He is preceded in death by his Father, and Great Grand Daughter – Letty Lou Tener
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday August 27, 2026, from 4 – 6 p.m. at the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos, Indiana. Memorial Services will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Chaplain Jeff Hale.
