Maxine E. Patterson, 103, of Greencastle

Maxine E. Patterson, 103, of Greencastle, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025.

Born August 8, 1921, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph Stanley and Margaret (Doucherty) Ellwart. She was a graduate of Mt. Clemens High School “Class of 1939”.

During WWII she worked as an airplane mechanics assistant and packed parachutes at Selfridge Air Force Base in Mt. Clemens, Michigan near Detroit.

Maxine was retired having worked 25 years in catering at DePauw University.

Maxine was a member of the Greencastle Presbyterian Church for several years, serving as a church officer and deaconess.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years Paul L. Patterson; sister Betty Rockwell; brother Esmonde Ellwart, and a great grandchild.

Maxine is survived by her children David (Stacy) Patterson, Linda Mundy, and Donald (Pam) Patterson; 13 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 13 great -great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 14, 2025, at the Forest Hill Cemetery. Followed by a time of fellowship at the First Baptist Church 404 Judson Drive Greencastle.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Maxine to The Waters of Greencastle Memory Care Unit.
