Marilyn Sue (Mann) Martin, 86, passed away Monday, December 15, 2025.
Marilyn was born to Edith (Costa) Mann and Emil Albert Mann on July 14, 1939, in Greencastle. She married Max Lee Martin. Max preceded her in death May 30, 2004.
Marilyn graduated from Greencastle High School in 1957. She earned her bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees from Indiana State University. Marilyn was a dedicated educator. She taught English, preschool before her children started school, and spent 30 plus years as the Librarian/Media Specialist at Greencastle High School before retirement.
Marilyn enjoyed spending time and visiting with family and friends. She also had a love for the many animals she had over the years. She was an avid reader who enjoyed working in the garden and with her flowers.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, James H. Mann; and sisters, Myrtle Cockrell and Emilie Cathcart.
Marilyn is survived by son, Mike L. Martin (Sally); daughter, Melanie “Susie” Boesen (Ken Schroeder); grandchildren, Jerry Martin (Rachel) and Kate Duncan (Josh); great-grandchildren, Lane Martin, Madeline Duncan, Easton Martin, Georgianna Duncan, Isabelle Duncan, Olivia Duncan and step great-grandchildren, Wren and Carter Ames.
Visitation for Marilyn will take place on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hopkin-Rector Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home in Greencastle with burial at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made in lieu of flowers to the Putnam County Humane Society.
