Leslie “Les” Charles Kahn

Leslie “Les” Charles Kahn passed away on April 16, 2026, at his home in Nashville, Indiana.

Born on January 14, 1954, in Alberta, Canada, Les's life was marked by resilience, dedication, and quiet love.

Adopted as a child, Les grew up in California within a military family, moving frequently to various bases across the country. Despite the constant changes, he maintained close ties to his roots, often traveling back to Oregon and California to visit family and cherish those connections.

After graduating high school, Les pursued higher education with determination, earning his degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in 1998. His professional life was defined by a steady and committed career in business, where he served as a Purchasing Manager for many years. In the last decade of his life, he found a profound joy working alongside his son Andrew, and close friends Billy and Doug at Batteries Plus Bulbs, blending family and vocation in a way that reflected his deep devotion.

Les was a man of few words, tending to express his love through action rather than speech. Those who knew him treasured the stories he shared from his childhood and younger years—glimpses into the experiences that shaped his thoughtful nature. His commitment to his family was boundless; no effort was spared when it came to supporting his son, Andrew. Les’s Indiana home for the past 17 years has been with his son Andrew, his wife Amanda and their six children.  Whether it meant driving them to school activities, visiting with friends, making Starbucks runs, helping with homework, or simply being present whenever needed, Les’s love was unwavering and unconditional.

A passionate golfer, Les spent countless hours on the course, finding companionship and happiness with close friends and family alike. Whether it was playing golf or watching it on TV, he truly loved the game. His favorite rounds of golf were played with his son, Andrew, friends, Bruce and Russell (preceded him death on April 11, 2023), nephew, Jason, his grandsons, Travis and Uncle Mike.  He also delighted in playing the keyboard, a quieter but no less treasured pastime.

Les is also survived by: bonus sons, Cliff and Cliff’s wife Nikki, and Thomas and Thomas’ wife Breynn; Step children, Faith Graham, Brandy Cameruaca and Brandy’s husband Kevin, and Bobby Norton and Bobby’s wife Crissy; along with his beloved grandchildren: Alexa, Alexandria, Kylynne, Aiden, Logann, Austin, Abriella, Lillian, Emma, Emily, Aubrey, Vincent and Kyle. His sister, Kathy Dowdy, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins on the East Coast and his extended family in Canada, also survive him, holding his memory close to their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his beloved wife, Emma "Janie" Jane Kahn.

Les’s life was a testament to quiet strength, steadfast love, and the special bonds of family. He was a father to all that crossed his path and had the joy of hearing some of his stories.  Though his words were few, the depth of his care and legacy will resonate profoundly with all who had the privilege to know him.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S Harrison St, Shelbyville, IN 46176, with the funeral service to follow at 6:00PM at the same location.

Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks and Stuart Parks are honored to serve Les’s family.

In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial contributions to be made to the funeral home for funeral expenses.
