Lapaz – Judith Kay Brumley, 81, passed away peacefully at her home on September 27, 2026. Born on November 17, 1944, in Elkhart, Judy was the daughter of Joseph and Marie (Anderson) Simpson.
Judy married her high school sweetheart, Douglas Brumley, on March 19, 1963. After graduating from LaPaz High School, she began a dedicated career with the United States Postal Service, where she worked for more than 30 years before retiring in 1998.
Family was the cornerstone of Judy’s life, and retirement gave her even more time to enjoy the people she loved most. She treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren and the memories they created together through the years. Among the family’s favorite memories was a trip to Disney World after Judy and Doug retired, as well as a special trip to Lake Michigan last summer, when they rented a beach house and enjoyed time together as a family.
Judy also enjoyed spending time with her Euchre Club and could often be found cheering on Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. She and Doug looked forward to escaping the Indiana winters and spending the colder months in Florida.
Judy attended Faith Christian Chapel in Lakeville.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Doug; their children, Michael (Ann) Brumley and Mindy (Greg) Melton; grandchildren, Emily, Maggie, Caroline, and Lea; and her siblings, Jo Ellen and Janet.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marie; and her siblings, Nancy and Larry.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor David Herbster officiating.
Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plymouth.
