Jesus M. Mendoza-Tellez, 93, of Plymouth, passed away on Monday May 11, 2026, at the Center for Hospice-Raclin House in Mishawka.
Jesus was born in Guanajuato, Mexico on June 8, 1932, to the late Natividad Mendoza and Josefina Tellez.
He married Maria Rivera and together they had 7 children.
Jesus was a dedicated father and husband who emigrated to the United States through the Bracero Program. He would eventually settle his family in Plymouth, IN after gaining full time employment on a local tomato farm. Jesus would finally retire after dedicating 30 years to Bremen Castings as a ladle operator. Never one to slow down even after retirement, Jesus enjoyed tending to his yearly garden, feeding the resident birds and squirrels, and making sure the walkway to the front door was always shoveled in winter. What brought him the most joy however, were visits from his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. “Papi” was fortunate to also meet his five great great-grandchildren before completing his earthly journey.
He is survived by his children; Maria Oviedo, Martha (Steven) Wright, Connie Menzoda, Susana Mendoza, J. Martin Mendoza, and Jesse (Terri) Mendoza. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 5 great great-grandchildren, along with his brothers, Hilario and Elias.
Jesus was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Maria, and his daughter, Antonia Fruits.
Visitation for Jesus will be held from 1pm-3pm on Friday May 22, 2026, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Plymouth Chapel, 300 W. Madison St. Plymouth. A funeral service will begin at 3pm. He will be interred at a later date at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Plymouth.
