Janice S. Cox, 73, of Brazil

Janice S. Cox, 73, of Brazil, passed away April 14, 2025, at Union Hospital following a short illness following a stroke.

She was born November 10, 1951, in Brazil, the daughter of Frank and Bernice Meneely Sprouse. Janice went through school in Staunton, graduating in 1969. She went to the Harold’s Beauty School and worked as a beautician up until 1985. She later worked as a sales representative for Handleman Company, retiring a few years ago.

Janice was a member of the Staunton Christian Church. She also was a part of the Clay County Democrats, the VFW#1127 Axillary, and the Brazil Elks Lodge. Janice served as the first woman Exalted Ruler of the Elks in Brazil. She took pride in being able to help local veterans with the transportation program to the VA and helping with dinners as fund raisers at the VFW.

Survivors include her husband Mike Cox; her daughters, Angie Watkins and husband Roy of Zionsville, and Alison Walton (Rob Turnipseed) of Montezuma; grandchildren, Whitley DeSmith (Tyler), Bryce Toppas (Hayley), Brianna Walton, Gage Bruer (Monica), Ethan Walton; step-grandchildren, Logan Watkins, Hannah Watkins, and Terri Henline; great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Jaden and Christian; siblings, Randy Sprouse (Donna), Jim Sprouse (Lana), Sandy Green (Warren) and half sister, Becky Guy (Steve); many nieces, nephews and extended family. She is also survived by her lifelong friend, Evelyn Brown and her husband Glen.

Services will be held Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 4:00 pm at Lawson-Miller Chapel with Pastor Doug Parkey officiating.

Visitation will be from 2-4:00. Cremation was chosen.
