Herbert H. "Herb" Caleau, 75, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2026, at his residence.
Born on July 30, 1950, in Gainesville, Florida he was the son of Wesley James Coers and Vera (Harrison) Caleau.
He married Janet (Fuquay) Duclos Caleau on June 30, 1995, and she survives. Other survivors include 6 children- Tony Caleau (Angel) of Tennessee, Jennifer Kellems (Cody) of Shelbyville, Jill Goodwin (Jason) of Columbus, Julie Pritchard (Matt) of Shelbyville, Mandy Jacobs (James) of Rushville, Derek Duclos (Katie) of Shelbyville; sister Joan of Florida; 16 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Addison Duclos and great granddaughter Delilah Messmore. Herb had lived in this area since 1973 after moving from Florida. He graduated from High School in Florida, was a member of Flat Rock Christian Church, & Wesport Christian Church.
He was machine operator at Knauf Fiberglass for 30 years, retiring from there. Herb was a US Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War.
He enjoyed reading, working jigsaw puzzles, traveling and enjoyed people watching.
Funeral services will be 6:00pm, Friday, May 1, 2026, at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road with Pastor Bryan Ebersole and Pastor Mike Bartlett officiating.
Family will receive friends on Friday evening from 4:00 pm until the time of the service, at the funeral home.
Military rites will be observed. Burial will be in Flat Rock Cemetery at a later date.
