Gail Sue Leake, 70, of St. Paul

Gail Sue Leake, 70, of St. Paul, passed away on Wednesday August 19, 2026 at her residence.

Born July 2, 1956 in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Walter Robert Glidden and Beverly Ann (Brown) Glidden.   She married Robert "Bob" Leake on May 16, 1981 and he survives.

Other survivors include 3 sons- Dillon Robert Leake (fiance Bradey Stewart) of St. Paul, Dustin Cole Leake of Pleasure Valley, Devin Leake (Kelsi) of St. Paul; 2 sisters- Paige Swartz (Bob) of Trafalgar,  Janice Heck (Brian) of Shelbyville, a brother Mark Glidden (Rhonda) of St. Paul; and 4 grandchildren- Macie Leake, Cassidy Coomer, Hunter Leake, and Maura Leake.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Leake was a lifelong resident of this area, and graduated from Shelbyville High School.  She had worked at Work One Unemployment Office with the State of Indiana for several years, had been a preschool teacher with Creative Kids for several years, and was a member of St. Paul Christian Church.

Gail was a loving wife, devoted mom, caring sister, wonderful mother-in-law, and, most of all, a truly cherished Grammy. She was the kind of person who made everyone feel loved, welcomed, and cared for. Gail never met a stranger and was always just a phone call away.

For many years, Gail shared her love and kindness with children as a preschool teacher, where she became lovingly known as "Miss Gail." She had a special way of making every child feel safe, important, and loved. Her caring heart touched countless lives, both in and outside of the classroom. Gail was incredibly proud of her family. She raised three boys, and raising those boys definitely made her tough-but it also filled her heart with a lifetime of memories, laughter, and love. Her greatest joy, however, was being a Grammy. She took so much pride in her grandchildren and loved nothing more than watching them play sports. She was their biggest cheerleader, always in the stands, always
encouraging them, and always beaming with pride.

Gail never went a day without checking in on the people she loved. A phone call, a conversation, or simply knowing how everyone was doing meant so much to her. She had a way of making you feel like you mattered, because to Gail, you did.

Her kindness, strength, laughter, and unconditional love will be deeply missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we will forever carry the love she gave us. We will hear her voice in our memories, feel her presence in the moments we share together, and see her smiling proudly from the stands whenever her grandchildren take the field.

Most of all, Gail will always be our Grammy-our biggest cheerleader, our safe place, and one of the greatest blessings our family could ever have.

Rest peacefully, Miss Gail. You were loved more than words can ever express, and you will be missed
more than you will ever know.
