Donna Yarber, 88, of Linton, Indiana, formerly of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2026. She was born January 4, 1938 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the daughter of Raymond Wampler and Pansy Bennett Wampler.
To know Donna is to love her, as she lived her life selflessly and always thought of others. Her kindness knew no limits, as she truly touched countless lives with her compassion. She was resilient, genuine, and kind. She was also forgiving, faithful, and a good listener. Donna loved everyone unconditionally. She was the best mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, sister, and friend anyone could ever ask for, and we are so lucky to have known her love.
Donna worked at the Lawrenceville High School in the Dietary Department. She then worked many years at the United Methodist Village in the Dietary Department until she retired. She was known for her friendliness, work ethic, and dedication to serving others. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, sunshine, reading her Bible, watching game shows, and loved spending time with friends and family. She was a great cook and baker, and she had an undeniable love for sweets, especially chocolate. In her final years living with her son, Richard, they spent many memorable times together, sitting on their front porch, overlooking the pond and watching the wildlife.
Donna walked with the Lord all of her life, and she will be remembered for her deep devotion to God. She was a devout member of the Wesleyan Christian Church, with her signature seat in the back pew until moving to Linton, Indiana, with her son. Her faithfulness was the foundation of her perseverance. As it says in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Donna was unwaveringly dedicated to the Lord, and as her body rests, her soul will be rejoicing in the Kingdom of God. In the book of Luke 23:43 it reads “Today you will be with me in paradise.” As we mourn our earthly loss, we find comfort in knowing heaven gained another angel.
Preceding Donna in death are her parents; siblings: Walter Wampler, Kate Higgins, Norma Smith, Gail Wampler, Lonnie Wampler, Linda Potts, and twin sister Monna Ford.
Surviving family includes her son, Richard Yarber; her siblings: Thelma Gibson, Lee Wampler, Jim Wampler, and Ron Wampler; her grandchildren: Rick Yarber, Bryan Yarber, Stacey Yarber Grav; her great-grandchildren: Jaidyn Yarber, Ashton Hipsher, Dominic Yarber, Olivia Yarber, Linkyn Yarber, and many other great grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren, Julian Ibarra, Laionna Kolusch; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 27, 2026, 1:00 p.m. at Wesleyan Christian Church, 804 4th Street, Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour of 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in the May Chapel Cemetery.
