Donald P. Jones, 69, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, September 19, 2026, at his residence.
He was born August 14, 1957, in to Robert Jones and Betty (Surber) Jones.
He attended Shelbyville High School. He was a truck driver for Oles Engineering.
Donald was always known for his gifted talent of building and restoring cars. If there was a drag race anywhere around he would be present. The time he spent with his children and grandchildren was the greatest pleasure in his life.
He married Penny Marie (Boles) Jones on June 30, 1977, and she survives.
He is also survived by his daughter, Lisa (husband, Kenneth) Dooley; sons, Donald Jones Jr. and Bryan Jones; grandchildren, Jasmine (husband, Michael) Adams, Lexis Jones, Emma Dooley, Gaige Jones and Keifer Dooley; great-grandchildren, Aislee Baldwin and Kinslee Adams; sisters, Roberta (husband, Doug) Morford and Sarah (husband, John) Helfer; brothers, Doug (wife, Mary) Jones, Billy (wife, Neta) Jones and Ray (wife, Joyce) Jones.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Perry and Linda Boles; sisters, Charlotte Keller, Betsy Jones; brother, Robert Jones.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 4 pm to 8 pm at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
Funeral services will be at Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 3:30 pm at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service with Pastor Merry Popplewell officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve Donald’s family.
