Carolyn Goben, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on April 24, leaving behind a legacy rooted in devotion, kindness, and unwavering love.

Carolyn was born on June 4, 1942, in Glasgow, Kentucky, to Clester L. Cox and Ruth B. Gooch (Wilcox).

Carolyn was a proud and dedicated mother. She is survived by Sheri (George) Burris, Mark Gooch, and Susan (Brian) Harley. Her family was the center of her world, and she poured her heart into creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and support.

She was a cherished grandmother to Justin Burris, Beth Marchbanks, Noah Harley, Briana Harley, Caleb Harley, Whitney Harley, and Mark Gooch Jr., and a beloved great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren. Carolyn found immense joy in her role as “Grandma” and will be fondly remembered for lovingly spoiling her grandchildren and creating the kind of magical summer memories they will carry with them forever.

She is survived by her sisters, Patty Phillips and Peggy Dugard; her sister-in-law, Doris Cox; and many extended family members who will cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clester L. Cox and Ruth B. Gooch (Wilcox); her son, Terry Gooch II; her sister, Barbara Chriswell; and her brothers, Clester Cox Jr. and Lucky L. Cox.

Carolyn had a deep passion for teaching and sharing knowledge, leaving a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to learn from her. Whether in a classroom or at home, she had a special way of guiding others with patience, encouragement, and care.

She was a member of Maryville Baptist Church, where her kindness, compassion, and quiet strength reflected her deep and abiding faith.

Above all, Carolyn loved fiercely. Her strength, generosity, and unwavering dedication to her family will continue to live on through each of them.

A private graveside service will be held for her family.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
