A. Kay Rigg, age 90, of Oxford, North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at her residence.
A. Kay Rigg, age 90, of Oxford, North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at her residence. She was born January 28, 1936, in Lawrence County, Illinois, the daughter of Orban Coonce and Ollie May Lafferty Coonce. She married Glenn Deloe Rigg on February 26, 1954, and he preceded her in death February 24, 2011.
Kay was a factory worker for Hoover Ball and Bearing. She was a member of the Salem Methodist Church in Oxford, North Carolina. In her free time, she enjoyed painting and cooking. She loved spending meaningful time with her family. She especially enjoyed western dancing, fishing, and wintering in Texas with her husband, Deloe, as well as spending time shopping and gardening with her daughter Kathy.
Preceding Kay in death were her parents, husband, siblings, Bert Coonce, Dwight Coonce, Dale Coonce, Arnum Coonce, Grace Davis, and Frances Dunlap.
Survivors include: children, Mike (Dorothy) Rigg of Sallisaw, Oklahoma and Kathy (Brad) Cook of Oxford, North Carolina; grandchildren, Brandon Rigg and Avery Rigg.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 6 pm at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will take place from 4-6 pm prior to the service the same day. A private burial will take place in Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
