Voters in Vermillion County District 4 will have a choice between Democratic candidate Andrew Zamani and Republican Jeff Bose during the general election.
Zamani, a 2007 graduate of South Vermillion High School, says Vermillion County is home.
"It has a rich and beautiful history and heritage. We have always been involved with the Little Italy Festival and sports at the school throughout the years. It is just a wonderful community all around, and I am proud to call this place home," Zamani told The Parke County Post.
A husband and father of four, along with being a 16-year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Zamani opted to run for county council because he felt it would be the place where he could help the most.
"I have kids that range in age between a fresh driver and elementary school so I want to make sure our community is safe for everyone, not only my kids but my family and friends as well. Proper funding is where that stuff begins," he said.
An issue that he has seen in Vermillion County is people not staying in the county, he acknowledged.
"As a family man, a father of four and a friend to many, I want to make sure my kids, my family, and my friends have the opportunity to work, raise their families and retire here," Zamani said.
Another issue he has heard is people feeling as if their voices aren't listened to and that "nobody cares."
"As Union Operating Engineer, the ability to listen to others is a core value. And if elected, I will proudly be that voice for the constituents," Zamani said.
