World Food Championships introduces the WFC Culinary Combine at Indianapolis this fall

The World Food Championships (WFC) is expanding its Food Sport lineup with the debut of the WFC Culinary Combine, an exciting new live competition designed to test the speed, precision, and technical mastery of some of the world’s most accomplished chefs.

Taking place October 15-18 at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion inside the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center, the Culinary Combine will become one of the premier attractions during Championship Weekend.

Inspired by the intensity of professional athletic combines, the WFC Culinary Combine transforms fundamental culinary techniques into a fast-paced, spectator-friendly competition where competitors race the clock while demonstrating the skills that separate exceptional chefs from the rest of the field. Every movement is timed. Every task is judged. Every mistake carries consequences.

Throughout the competition, chefs will rotate through ten timed skill stations that measure speed, consistency, accuracy, execution, and composure under pressure. Certified WFC Cheferees will evaluate each challenge while fans follow the action through live commentary and real-time leaderboard updates, creating an engaging experience unlike anything else in competitive cooking.

Each station has been designed to test the essential techniques that define elite culinary professionals while creating continuous action for spectators throughout the competition. The inaugural Culinary Combine will feature the following planned challenges:

• Knife Skills – Medium Dice One Onion
• Citrus Fabrication – Zest and Supreme Two Oranges
• Knife Skills – Tomato Concassé
• Shellfish – Shuck Six Oysters
• Fresh Prep – Peel and Pit an Avocado
• Poultry Fabrication – Spatchcock a Chicken
• Seafood Prep – Peel and Devein Six Shrimp
• Butchery – Trim a Rack of Ribs
• Seafood Fabrication – Debone and Fillet a Round Fish
• Egg Cookery – Prepare a Three-Egg Omelet

Adding to the excitement, the Culinary Combine will also feature appearances from celebrity chefs and culinary personalities throughout Championship Weekend, each stepping into the arena to post an official time and test their skills against the field. Their performances will be added directly to the live leaderboard, creating daily bragging rights and giving fans the opportunity to see how some of the industry's most recognizable names measure up against the competitors chasing the title of inaugural Culinary Combine Champion.

The Culinary Combine joins an already impressive lineup of chef-focused programming taking place during the 2026 World Food Championships, including championship category competitions, live demonstrations, educational programming, and interactive fan experiences. The 2026 World Food Championships will take place October 15-18 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center in Indianapolis, featuring more than 400 culinary teams competing across ten championship categories for more than $400,000 in prize money and the coveted title of World Food Champion.
