Salem (Ill.) police report the arrest of a wanted Crawford County woman on a Lawrence County warrant this week.
Twenty-three-year-old Kyley Benton of Robinson was one of three suspicious people who were reported taking items from storage units on Main Street in Salem. When questioned by authorities, she gave police a false name twice before eventually revealing her real name. It was discovered that Benton was being sought on an arrest warrant for Failure to Report to a Penal Institution. Court records show she was sentenced to three years in prison on a Lawrence County felony conviction for violating probation for methamphetamine possession.
She was additionally charged with Possession of Methamphetamine after throwing a baggie containing the drug behind her when talking to police and also with Obstruction of Justice for refusing to give her real name.
Benton was taken to the Marion County (Ill.) Jail and was being held there for additional court action and potential transfer here to Lawrence County in the future.
