Indiana Governor Mike Braun joined Hoosier entrepreneurs and small businesses yesterday at the Indiana Statehouse to recognize their significant impact on the state’s economy and communities.

At the event, held in conjunction with Global Entrepreneurship Week, Gov. Braun released the fourth edition of Entrepreneurship Indiana, an annual yearbook showcasing Indiana’s entrepreneurial spirit.

“In Indiana, more than 99% of our businesses are small businesses. As an entrepreneur of more than 37 years myself, I can attest to the work ethic, tenacity and resilience it takes to start and grow a business. This week – and all weeks – it is an honor to celebrate the success of Hoosier entrepreneurs and their businesses across the state.” – Governor Mike Braun

The 2025 edition of Entrepreneurship Indiana is published by the Office of Commerce in partnership with PATTERN and features success stories of 100 Hoosier entrepreneurs and small businesses as well as the organizations and communities that support them. The publication, which is available to download online, serves as a platform to further inspire entrepreneurship, highlight small business resources and programming, and share the impact of Indiana’s entrepreneurial community.

Gov. Braun has made entrepreneurship a key pillar of his administration, supporting Main Street businesses to boost Indiana’s economy and wages and launching the Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation to help entrepreneurs start, grow and scale their businesses. Today, the state is home to more than 591,600 small businesses that support more than 1.2 million jobs for Hoosier workers. Indiana has been named a top state in the country to start a business by Forbes, ranks No. 3 in the U.S. for cost of doing business by CNBC, and ranks top 5 nationally for its small business survival rate according to Kauffman.

Yesterday’s event was one of many entrepreneurial activities hosted in Indiana in recognition of Global Entrepreneurship Week, a campaign by the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) to celebrate and empower entrepreneurs in every country around the world. This year, Indiana ranks No. 4 in the country for the number of Global Entrepreneurship Week-related events and activities, while Muncie and Vincennes are among the top 10 most active cities in the U.S., further highlighting the growing entrepreneurial ecosystem and culture in Indiana.
