U.S. Court of Appeals issues stay

some important news for gun owners in Lawrence and other counties across Illinois.

The state ban on assault weapons and high capacity magazines will remain enforceable after a federal appeals court late last week stayed a ruling from a downstate judge who declared it unconstitutional.

A three judge panel of the 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals issued the order extending a stay on the order issued last month by U.S. District Court Judge Stephen McGlynn that found the Protect Illinois Communities Act violated the Second Amendment.
