Two people were transported to the Plymouth Hospital on Tuesday afternoon after a tractor-trailer lost two of its tires, which then struck their SUV on U.S. 31.
According to a news release from Deputy Haygood of the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, central dispatch received a 911 call at approximately 12:41 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28th, reporting a two-vehicle collision on southbound U.S. 31, just north of U.S. 30.
Arriving at the scene, Officer Haygood determined that a southbound 1994 Peterbilt tractor-trailer, driven by 22-year-old Charles Young, lost two tires from one of its axles. The runaway tires subsequently struck a southbound 2018 Ford Edge driven by 69-year-old Calvin Brown.
As a result of the incident, Brown and a passenger in the Ford Edge sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by Plymouth Fire & EMS, the Indiana State Police, and Tim's Towing.
