A three vehicle crash in Cass County on US 35 left two injured on Tuesday.
According to police, Cass County Central Dispatch received a report about a vehicle crash with entrapment on US 35 near County Road 1100 South just after 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3. An initial scene assessment revealed a three vehicle crash that partially blocked US 35.
The preliminary investigation found Tiffany Baker, 50, of Galveston, had been driving a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee northbound on US 35 when she stopped to make a westbound turn. While stopped, Baker was rear ended by a 2017 Nissan Altima driven by Martha Barton, 45, of Royal Center and formerly of Rochester. Baker's Jeep Cherokee was pushed into a 2019 Chevy Equinox driven by Andrew Brooks, 54, of Converse, who was traveling southbound on US 35.
Barton sustained serious injuries from the crash and had to be extracted from her vehicle at the scene. Barton was eventually flown to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Baker was transported to Ascension Saint Vincent Hospital in Kokomo via ambulance for her injuries. Brooks was uninjured during the crash and refused treatment at the scene.
Alcohol is not considered a factor in the crash, but the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Cass County Sheriff's Office at 574-753-7800.
