On Friday morning, May 24th, at approximately 4:10, a Plymouth Police Officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Gibson and Dickson Street.
The officer knew the driver did not have a license because he had just arrested her weeks prior for driving without a license.
The driver of the vehicle was Karen Turcios-Martinez, 31-year-old of the 600 block of West Washington Street in Plymouth.
Turcios-Martinez was taken into custody for never obtaining a driver’s license, with a prior conviction, and transported to the Marshall County Jail where she was booked in at 4:50 a.m. Her cash bond was paid at 5:50 a.m. and Turcios-Martinez was released on bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
