Trio arrested after meth seizure in Clay County

Three individuals were jailed in the Clay County Jail over the weekend following a methamphetamine seizure. 

According to the Clay County Sheriff's Office, deputies initiated a traffic stop after midnight on Sunday, Aug. 9, in Knightsville. The officer used a K9 during the stop, and the dog alerted to the presence of drugs inside the vehicle. 

The search turned up more than four ounces of meth, along with other drug paraphernalia. As a result, James D. Auberry, 37, Brazil, and Harleigh R. Nicholson, 26, Clay County, were arrested at the scene and transported to the Clay County Jail. 

However, the investigation continued, centering on an apartment in Brazil. Deputies and detectives obtained a search warrant for the apartment, found an additional 2.75 ounces of meth and arrested Harlan R. Flake, 40, Brazil. 

Flake was charged with the following: dealing methamphetamine (Level 2 felony), possession of methamphetamine (Level 3 felony), possession of a Schedule I-IV Controlled Substance (Level 6 felony), unlawful possession or use of a legend drug (Level 6 felony), and possession of paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor). 

Nicholson was charged with the following: a Level 2 felony of dealing meth, a Level 3 felony of possession of meth, a Level 6 felony of maintaining a common nuisance and a Class B misdemeanor possession of marijuana. 

Aubrey was charged with the following: a Level 2 felony of dealing meth, a Level 3 felony of possession of meth, a Level 4 felony of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, a Level 6 felony of maintaining a common nuisance, a Class A misdemeanor of possession of paraphernalia and a Class B misdemeanor of possession of marijuana.
