Threats against public officials land Greencastle man behind bars

A Greencastle man found himself behind bars in the Putnam County Jail after making a series of threats against public officials. 

According to police and court documents, Joshua Breedlove, 40, Greencastle, has been behind bars since mid April after making a series of threats online against a judge and law enforcement officials.

Putnam County Sheriff Deputy Scott Ducker was requested to investigate threats made by Breedlove against a handful of public officials through social media. In the threats, which were made on Breedlove's personal Facebook page and the Putnam County Sheriff's Department Facebook page, Breedlove threatened harm and death against the victims. 

According to documents, Breedlove believed he was being "gangstalked" and was under surveillance by Putnam County officials. On his personal page, Breedlove had taken photos and shared posts where he believed officials were watching and following him. In one post, he states that he is going to "hold ANYONE and EVERYONE responsible for collusion in domestic terrorism and and treason." 

"Mr. Breedlove has also made numerous posts implying that government officials, including local judges have targeted him and treated him unfairly. He has made posts stating that it is a large scale conspiracy among the criminal justice sector within Putnam County. Mr. Breedlove has, for many years, made posts and comments on social media. In the past, his posts appeared only critical of the government, likely expressing his first amendment rights. Recently his posts have escalated by targeting specific individuals and making threats of violence," the report states. 

One such threat came against Putnam County Sheriff Deputy Kyle Lee, in which he tells Lee he has no problem "suing them, breaking their bodies or blowing up their houses." 

He also commented on a Putnam County Sheriff's Department post earlier this year that he hadn't met a cop in Putnam County that "hadn't warranted me beating their (expletive) (expletive) under the ground." 

In a pair of posts in April, Breedlove threatened the life of Putnam County Judge Melinda Jackman-Hamlin, stating he would "end" Jackman-Hamlin's career and life, and also posted that deputies who investigated an incident at his house needed shot. 

Breedlove also threatened to "nuke" a DCS worker, former Cloverdale Police Chief, a pair of Putnam County Sheriff Department deputies and a judge. 

After meeting with Breedlove to serve eviction papers, law enforcement officials state Breedlove turned to Facebook to threaten two more officials. 

Breedlove has been charged with a Level 5 felony count of intimidation and four Level 6 felony counts of intimidation. He is currently being held on a $25,000 cash bond and is set to appear back in court June 26.
