Tennessee man arreted for marijuana by city police

Officer Fisher with the Plymouth Police Department arrested a Cordova, TN man on Saturday for marijuana.

Officer Fisher conducted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle on North Oak Drive at about 8:30 October 26^th. The vehicle was traveling at 54 mph in a 35-mph zone. The driver was identified as Marcellous Boyd, 21, of Cordova TN.

While speaking with the driver, Officer Fisher got a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A K9 officer arrived on scene and had a positive alert on the vehicle. A search was conducted, and marijuana was located. There was a total weight of 50.3 grams of marijuana.

Boyd was arrested for possession of marijuana and transported to Marshall County Jail and booked in for possession of marijuana. Boyd was given a court date and bond and about 3 hours later he bonded out of jail.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
