As the clock ticks down on another year as Cloverdale Town Board President, Brandon Tancak cannot help but get excited about the future, especially when it comes to his town.

"We've done a phenomenal job. We are fiscally responsible and financially sound. We have a lot of big projects still going on. I heard we are the leader in the county when it came to new home permits and residential construction is very fluid and active within the town, which is great to see. I would like to see more commercial businesses in the 231-70 area. Things are really good in the town of Cloverdale," Tancak told The Putnam County Post.

There are numerous accomplishments the town has wrapped up during the calendar year, according to Tancak.

"We completed the wastewater treatment line coming from Lieber State Park that now comes to our wastewater treatment plant. That was a big win. We got awarded a $750 thousand grant for the water treatment plant. The 10--inch water line project that ran under 70 to POET, that just got completed. We got two new convenience stores being built or renovated. When I look back at 2025, it was a success," he noted.

In addition, Tancak noted the help of the volunteers that make up Cloverdale Main Street as being a huge help to not only the town, but also town hall.

"The snowmen are back on Main Street. They are decorated and up on the light poles. For that group of people, they want to see nothing but the best for the town of Cloverdale. They put in a lot of man hours that go unnoticed. On behalf of the town council, they know that we are greatly appreciative for those man hours and the things they do for the town. I am very thankful for them," he said.

Tancak also gave thanks to C Bar C Expo Arena and the financial windfall the events there bring into Cloverdale and Putnam County.

"I am grateful for C Bar C. Number one, because it is in the town limits, and number two because of what it does in the county. There are great things coming that will cater to that area. C Bar C is a definite advocate for the town because of the amount of business it brings into the town. When you see those horse trucks and trailers rolling in, and there are hundreds of them, you realize how big of a sport that is and what that brings into the town and county is huge. There are big things coming to that part of town," Tancak said.

With that said, Tancak would like to see some help from the county's tourism office when it comes to drawing more people to Cloverdale and having them stay in Putnam County, along the U.S. 231-I-70 corridor.

"I do feel some of these people who come in for these horse events stay elsewhere than in Cloverdale, possibly staying in Plainfield, Avon, or as far west as Terre Haute. Maybe we can do a better job of prioritizing the I-70, US 231 interchange a little bit," Tancak said.

As he prepares for a new year, Tancak admits he does so having changed his thinking and is ready to tackle more projects for Cloverdale.

"I have had to rewire my brain when it comes to working on town related projects to be patient and trust the process. Government does move extremely slowly. It can be frustrating, but I have rewired my thought process. You have to trust the process and it will pan out at the end of the day," he admitted..

And, when it comes to projects in the new year, Tancack acknowledges he and Cloverdale will not slow down.

"Recently, we applied for a few grants. One of them is a Community Crossings grant to repave several streets, and another is to relocate our recycling bin to a piece of property the town owns. We are not slowing down. Jason Hartman, our town manager, continues to do a great job, and we see great things and want great things for the town," Tancak said.
