A man arrested in Bartholomew County for stealing a tractor was also found to have stolen a car from Hancock County.
Dispatch received a 911 call just before 7 p.m. Friday about a man who had stolen a tractor near the intersection of West Lowell Road and N 250 W then drove it several hundred yards into a field before being caught by the tractor owner. The suspect then fled the area on foot.
Deputies later located the suspect urinating in a roadway.
The suspect, Derrick Jordan, 20, of McCordsville, ran away from deputies into a nearby field where he was quickly apprehended. During a search of Jordan, a vehicle key belonging to a Lexus passenger car and multiple vehicle registration cards to a Lexus were found in Jordan’s pocket.
A BMV check on the Lexus information found that the vehicle was reported stolen in McCordsville. Deputies later located the stolen Lexus in a nearby interstate rest stop.
Jordan was booked into the Bartholomew County Jail on two charges of theft of a motor vehicle, public indecency and resisting law enforcement.
