Authorities say that a male teen subject is responsible for making a threat toward the Carmi-White County High School.
Early Monday May 12th around 3 a.m., Carmi Police received notification from school administrators of an online potential threat.
School was cancelled for the day as a precautionary measure.
Police were then able to obtain search warrants from Internet service providers, which eventually led to the identification of a 16-year-old male who, while intoxicated, submitted the threat tip as a joke with no actual credible threat.
The investigation did reveal the juvenile did not have any access to any weapons or explosives.
His parents were fully cooperative throughout the process. A full report will be submitted to the White County States Attorney for review as to any potential charges.
