The city of Sumner has taken steps toward continued community growth and development.
The City Council approved the lone bid from Kieffer Brothers of Mt. Carmel of just over $157,300 for the Route 50 waterline project. It will extend water service across U.S. 50 to the Farm Service (FS) location and four additional residences in the area.
City administrator Travis Trainer told GIANT-FM News that all of the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) permits necessary have been approved and some of the required Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) permits regarding the work have also been approved.
A firm timeline in regard to beginning the project has yet to be determined.
