The Wayne County States Attorney reports that a Lawrence County man was given prison time after a negotiated plea agreement.
32-year-old Norman Mier of Sumner was initially charged with counts of Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine and Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, both Class 2 Illinois Felonies. During an appearance this week in Wayne County Circuit Court, Mier waived a jury trial and entered a guilty plea to the delivery charge with the possession charge dropped as part of the plea agreement.
He received 3 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) to be followed by one year of mandatory supervised release. He must also pay over $3300 in fines and court costs. Mier was remanded into state custody after the sentencing with an appearance in White County Circuit Court pending.
