The Special Olympics Indiana Summer Games have officially concluded, wrapping up an inspiring weekend of athleticism, determination, and community spirit. Thousands of athletes across the state of Indiana competed across multiple sports on the campuses of Indiana State University and Rose Hulman Institute of Technology June 6-8.
31 athletes competed from Marshall and Starke County and brought home an impressive number of medals and ribbons, showcasing not only their talents but also the unyielding spirit of inclusion and perseverance. Sports that our local athletes competed in during the weekend were Swimming, Track and Field, Bowling, and Powerlifting. These athletes brought home a combined 17 Gold Medals, 12 Silver Medals, 17 Bronze Medals, and 33 ribbons from the State competition!!!
The Summer Games weekend would not have been possible without the generous support of the community and the outstanding cooperation of Marshall Starke Special Olympics venue partners. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the volunteers, donors, families, supporters, and local businesses who helped create an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
