An Edwards County (Illinois) man was identified by authorities as the man who died after being involved in a single vehicle fatal semi-accident in Knox County (Indiana).
Karl Case of West Salem, age 48, was pronounced dead at the scene on the mishap Tuesday afternoon. His semi loaded with coal was heading south on U.S. 41 near the Schenk Drive when it veered across the median and the northbound lanes before hitting an embankment and rolling over into a nearby cornfield.
Case was the only one inside the vehicle at the time and it is thought that he may have suffered a medical episode behind the wheel that may have led to the accident. An autopsy will be conducted as part of the investigation to determine the exact cause of death.
