Officer Wozniak with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department stopped a Ford F-150 that was pulling a large camping trailer on U.S. 31 near 19th Road. The traffic stop was on Tuesday evening, August 27, at about 7:45.
During the traffic stop, it was learned that the vehicle's driver, Nikalas I. Kapsa, 25, of South Bend, was operating a vehicle with a driving status of suspended prior. Kapsa was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked in for driving while suspended with a prior and held on a $500 cash bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
