Saint Joseph Health System today announced it has received a $10,000 donation to its foundation from Comcast. The donation will support updating the technology and entertainment options Saint Joseph Health System provides to pediatric patients in Mishawaka.
“Integrating gaming systems and smart TVs into pediatric hospital rooms enhances the comfort and emotional well-being of young patients by providing engaging, age-appropriate entertainment and a sense of normalcy during their hospital stay,” said Lindsey J. Lawrence, BSN, RN, MSML, C-EFM, Nurse Manager of NICU and Pediatrics at Saint Joseph Health System. “These technologies offer distraction from pain and anxiety and empower children with a sense of control over their environment — contributing to a more positive and healing hospital experience. Thank you, Comcast, for the generous gift for the pediatric patients at Saint Joseph Health System and Mishawaka Medical Center.”
“I am grateful for Comcast’s generosity and their commitment to supporting children and families in our community,” said Rep. Rudy Yakym. “Investments like this bring comfort and joy to young patients during difficult times, and as a father of three, I know there is nothing more meaningful than seeing a child smile. I applaud Saint Joseph Health System for their dedication to providing compassionate, innovative care to Hoosier families.”
Comcast's donation is part of Project UP, the company's $1 billion commitment to advance digital opportunity and help create a future of unlimited possibilities. Over the past three years, Comcast has made a total of more than $3 million in cash and in-kind donations to Indiana nonprofits.
