The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department released details of the fatal accident east of Bourbon last evening.
On Monday at approximately 5:31 p.m., the Marshall County Central Dispatch Center received a 911 call about a vehicle collision involving personal injury. Marshall County Sheriff's Department, Bourbon Police, Bourbon Fire, and Lutheran EMS were all dispatched to the area of 8th Road near the intersection with Apple Road to further investigate.
The investigation at the scene revealed that a 2002 Ford F-150 was traveling west on 8th Road and collided with the back of a horse-drawn carriage carrying multiple passengers. A 41-year-old man, Jarrett Sutton of Rochester, drove the pickup.
A single horse was pulling that horse-drawn carriage. The two adults on the carriage, Aden and Mary Chupp of Nappanee, were ejected and declared deceased at the scene.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating this collision.
