The Shelbyville Fire Department is moving ahead with the purchase of a new fire engine.
Shelbyville Fire Chief Doug Lutes appeared before the city’s Board of Public Works and Safety on Tuesday to request the approval for the final purchase agreement for the new engine.
After the recently acquired ambulances for the department finally arrived and were put into service after months and months of delays, the department looks to get back on schedule with replacement of an aging engine.

Lutes says the company they’ve chosen can work to to modify the truck to Shelbyville’s specifications.
